The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2014 season got underway again this year with Fair Day at Victoria Park. I was asked by the organisers of the 2014 Bingham Cup (the Gay Rugby World Cup) to pop along and capture some images from the day, including a couple of NSW Waratahs players Jono Lance and Nick Phipps getting their tops off and dunked to raise money for charity.

Bears Artspace 2012

In Uncategorized by pauldwade / February 26, 2012 / 0 Comments

For the fourth year in a row I’m exhibiting in the Harbour City Bears Artspace. The exhibition runs at the Monstrosity Gallery, 93 Bourke St, Woolloomooloo from Thurs 23rd Feb until 1st March, daily 11am-6pm.

Beard

The exhibition features a broad range of works from Australian and international artists. You can see some more of the work on the Monstrosity blog as well as all of the works together with artist bios in this Facebook gallery. The three images I’ve entered in the exhibition were taken as part of the shoot for the Bear Essentials festival but were not used in the campaign. I’m happy to say that two out of three sold on the opening night! Other images from the BE shoot are in this Flickr set.

Getting down to the Bear Essentials

In Uncategorized by pauldwade / February 2, 2012 / 0 Comments

A few months ago I had a shoot with the Harbour City Bears for their annual Mardi Gras festival, Bear Essentials. Every year bears, cubs, daddies, beefy blokes, and furry dudes of all shapes and sizes come from all over Australia and the world to enjoy this event filled festival.

Rugby

The theme for Bear Essentials 16 is ‘A Whole New Ball Game’, so obviously the photos reflect the sporting theme. Taking inspiration from football, rugby union, rugby league, pool, AFL (Aussie Rules) and more, three affable models got their kit on and off for the shoot at The Oxford Hotel and Kingsteam.

Balls

A number of images are being used both on the website and posters, flyers and media for the festival as a whole and the individual events. You can see all the images from the campaign plus a selection that didn’t make the cut but are stand-outs on Flickr.

Thanks to Harbour City Bears and their President Jonny Bastin for asking me to do the job, plus the models Gavin P, David and Gavin S for their time.
