Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir are going HOME

I recently collaborated with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir again for their upcoming performance ‘HOME: Voices Without Borders’. However this time it wasn’t just an image, but a promotional video telling a short story about finding yourself in a place that feels like home.

This was my first video shoot for a client and was shot on a Sony Alpha A55 DSLR at various locations around Sydney. We started late afternoon at a sunny Circular Quay and made our way to St James Station and Hyde Park. Additional city shots were taken a few days later.

The Barber Shop Time Forgot

I was fortunate to stumble into a little time capsule in Sydney’s Surry Hills the other day, Chebal’s Barber Shop. Inside I found an interior which had not changed for decades, bits and pieces had been added here and there, light fittings no longer worked, there was several types of flooring, photos took up most of the wall space, about as far removed from a modern stylists as you can get.

Bingham Cup Waratah Dunking at Fair Day

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2014 season got underway again this year with Fair Day at Victoria Park. I was asked by the organisers of the 2014 Bingham Cup (the Gay Rugby World Cup) to pop along and capture some images from the day, including a couple of NSW Waratahs players Jono Lance and Nick Phipps getting their tops off and dunked to raise money for charity.
